I’ve photographed loads of weddings in Brooklyn and even more at Brooklyn Bridge Park, however one venue I’ve always wanted to work in but never got the chance? Celestine Restaurant. So when Olga and Angel got in touch about their summer wedding at Celestine, I was so excited! Not only because Olga and Angel are awesome, but because Celestine restaurant in Brooklyn has been on my venue wishlist for awhile.
Olga and Angel are an incredible couple and I’ve been lucky enough to work with them twice now! That’s right, this is the second wedding I’ve photographed for these two. The first wedding was a Covid friendly elopement on the waterfront in Williamsburg. Funny story, their first Brooklyn elopement? Yeah, it was during a hurricane. We all got completely soaked! Thus, I had my fingers double and triple crossed that their big wedding day would be of glorious sunshine. The forecast that week though had other plans. While the weather held out for the first bit of portraits, the clouds opened up during the second half, starting as a sprinkle, and then starting to really come down. Shoot!
However, let it be known that Olga and Angel are two amazing humans with the best most joyful of attitudes, who took their lemons and made the best lemonade and we got some wonderful photos and it was all worth it in the end. But next time ya’ll? I would like a teeny bit of blue sky. 😉
I started the day meeting them for the ceremony in Greenpoint, Brooklyn at St Anthony’s St Alphonsus Church.
After the mass we headed over to Celestine in Dumbo, Brooklyn. The rain was holding off, so we headed out for portraits along the waterfront. Celestine sits right along the John Street portion of the park, so there are great views from the restaurant itself as well which is really neat.
The food at Celestine is SO good! Yum!
Just need to stop for a minute and take a moment of appreciation for Olga’s AMAZING veil! I LOVE long cathedral veils, and this was just so cool with all the flower design.
I told you, these two are so much fun!
And then came the rain! In what could have been a total let down (remember their first wedding was during a literal hurricane) these two turned the tables to happiness. Much to the joy of my photographer heart, these two literally just laughed and danced in the rain without a care in the world. You can’t ask for a much better attitude than that and it was so much fun to photograph.
Seriously, bring this energy to your wedding day and everything will be awesome no matter what.
After the fun rainy shots, we headed into Celestine to enjoy their reception. I don’t do a ton of daytime weddings, and weekday daytime weddings at that, but Olga and Angel and their guests proved that it doesn’t matter when you have your festivities, anytime is a great time to tear up the dance floor and have a great time!
After the first dance, it was party time!
Congrats Olga and Angel! So much love to you both!
