There are some spots in NYC that are just iconic. The New York Public Library building on 42nd street is definitely one of them. The huge columns, the beautiful white marble facade, the steps, all of it is just gorgeous. While the inside is obviously stunning, getting inside for photos is not really a thing that’s allowed, however, the outside area is amazing for photos and for a tiny wedding ceremony. A New York Public Library elopement is so classic and Amanda and Gus had the best style to pull it off. Also to note: this spot is covered by the rooftop of the building, so if the weather outside happens to be less the ideal, it can be a great spot to tuck in out of the rain.
Amanda and Gus came from Florida for their New York elopement and they were the most stylish and awesome couple to work with. Amanda has worked in hospitality, and knew she didn’t want a big wedding. They decided on an elopement and pick the New York Public Library for their ceremony spot and I’m so glad they did. If you go before opening hours, the front facade of the NYPL is gorgeous and has a perfect little nook on either side that’s ideal for elopement weddings and tiny ceremonies.
Celine from Honeybreak Officiants met us on the steps on a weekday morning and we headed up to get these two hitched. A good friend of Amanda was able to meet us and be their witness and it was so touching to photograph this beautiful couple exchange vows.
Celine did a wonderful job as always with the ceremony.
Not a dry eye in the house!
They did it! Time to celebrate!
Amanda new she didn’t want a traditional wedding gown and I LOVE when brides go for their own unique style. This pantsuit wedding outfit was awesome. She looked incredible.
After their elopement ceremony at the NY Public Library, we headed downtown to Washington Square Park. Amanda had mentioned they have “high-low taste” basically fine champagne with hotdogs, and requested photos stopping for a snack in the park. Happy to oblige.
After the park we headed up a couple blocks to the Washington Mews. This is a closed off cobblestone street very close to Washington Square Park. It’s perfect for photos, I love the little doorways and flowerboxes. Amanda and Gus made my job easy, looking fantastic all morning!
Congrats you two! Wishing all the best wine and food for a lifetime!
