Favorite places for Wedding and Elopement Photos in NYC

There are so many places to take wedding photos in NYC! Whether you’re eloping in New York or having a big wedding; if you’re opting to get married in New York City you have an overwhelming number of options in terms of backdrops for wedding photos.
Here are some of my favorite locations for wedding photos in NYC. However, one of the best parts of the city is discovering new hidden gems. Even after photographing weddings in NYC for nearly two decades, I’m still stumbling upon new streets and neighborhood corners that are new to me. So this is by no means an exhaustive list, just a few of my most requested spots for wedding photos in NYC that I think are great!
Central Park Wedding Photos

With good reason, Central Park is always one of the most popular places for New York wedding photos and elopement photos in NYC! There are so many choices within Central Park for wedding photos, you have the iconic arches of Bethesda Terrace to the skyline views from Cat Rock. A quiet walk through the Ramble or North Woods might be more your style? Check out my Guide to Central Park if this feels like it might your choice for wedding photos!

NYC City Street Wedding Photos

If you’re coming to New York to get married, you probably want to capture the essence of NYC in your elopement or wedding photos. New York is all about it’s streets and sidewalks and I always make sure to get some crosswalk or intersection photos to get this vibrant part of the city atmosphere in your wedding photos. Prime neighborhoods for great street shots are Tribeca and Soho with their cobblestone lanes, classic NYC architecture and the occasional bit of street art. You’re getting married at City Hall and you want those classic NYC street elopement photos? This is where we go!

West Village is also always one of my favorites. Looking to stay close to Central Park? The Upper West and Upper East Sides also have beautiful streets filled with elegant townhomes and brownstones.

Brooklyn Heights and West Village Wedding Photos
These are probably two of the most picturesque neighborhoods in NYC. One is in Brooklyn and one is Manhattan. They have a similar vibe of brownstones, and quaint, adorable streets. I always feel like I’m in a movie set when I stroll the West Village, it’s classic New York. They also both are next to the waterfront whether it’s views from the Hudson or at Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Washington Mews Wedding Photos
A little secluded spot, if you’re doing West Village, we can certainly start here. Washington Mews is a car free lane just above Washington Square Park associated with NYU. Cobblestones, adorable doors with ivy, it’s like a tiny European village street dropped into New York. It’s perfect for wedding or elopement photos in NYC!

Brooklyn Bridge Park/Dumbo Wedding Photos
Another of the most popular spots for NYC wedding photos in New York! Probably my most requested spot in tandem with Central Park. Brooklyn Bridge Park is huge and popular for a reason. You’ve got incredible views of the Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Bridge and the Manhattan skyline, varied other backgrounds in the park, and it’s right next to Dumbo which is a great neighborhood for street art murals and a more funky industrial feel.
Want more brownstones? Perfect, Brooklyn Heights is right next door.

Gantry Park/Hunters Point Park South
I think Gantry Park and Hunters Point Park South are often overlooked for elopement photos in NY and they shouldn’t be! You’ve got amazing views of the midtown skyline which includes the Chrysler Building and the Empire State Building, you can’t go wrong! A fun boardwalk and even the iconic Coca Cola sign is here.

Top of the Rock Wedding Photos
If you want skyline for NYC wedding photos, Top of the Rock is your place! Nowhere else are you going to get this kind of view and the staff have always been so kind for wedding photos. Yes you have to buy tickets, but the view is pretty amazing!

New York Public Library Wedding Photos
The white marble, the steps, the soaring columns? The front facade of the New York Public Library main branch so elegant and timeless. It’s the perfect background for photos. The only catch is needed to come earlier in the morning or when the library is closed if you want to avoid crowds of people.

Fort Tryon Park Wedding Photos
I love Fort Tryon. This park is a hike from the rest of Manhattan, but it’s always quiet and has so many beautiful spots! The amazing archways with cobble stone walk way are always stunning, the manicured garden, and lots of fun staircases and green pathways abound!

Coney Island Wedding Photos
A bit of an off the beaten path choice, but if you want colorful and fun and perhaps a stroll on the beach, Coney Island is your place for wedding photos! It’s a hike from the city, but one of my favorite places to take couple photos in New York!

Did you have another spot you want to take your wedding or elopement photos in NYC? Let me know! I’m always game to try somewhere new!
