I love photographing weddings in New Jersey, but this is the first barn wedding I’ve had the chance to shoot. It might be my midwestern background, but I’m always up for a beautiful barn venue. This Updike Farms Wedding last September was just beautiful. Updike Farmstead is a great wedding venue very close to Princeton, New Jersey. Not too far from NYC, it was a great choice for Pilar and Luca.
The September day they chose could not have been better for an outdoor farm wedding, with mild temperatures and a beautiful blue sky. As soon as I drove up to Updike Farmstead I knew it was going to be a great day!
We had access to the barn at Updike Farms along with all their lawn space, and it was wonderful for a few last minute getting ready moments along with detail and portrait shots. I loved their rings and Pilar’s bouquet was perfect.
Any time I can get someone to twirl around in a full skirted dress I’m going to do it! We had so much taking these photos.
How cute are they as a couple? These two were so kind and up for all kinds of silly antics.
I loved the rustic side of this barn and Pilar’s long veil? It was excellent in the wind!
After the ceremony we went out to this field in back to get some sunset glow in the fall colored crops. I may have been climbing in the corn rows, but it was totally worth it!
Coming from the city it’s always so soothing to take photos in lots and lots of green space!
Before their ceremony, the couple hid out in the barn, and then had the Updike Farms staff open the doors for a dramatic entrance. It was so much fun!
Luca had so much emotion on his face for the whole ceremony. When grooms are so touched by their family and friends coming to the wedding, it’s so sweet!
The view from the ceremony space on the lawn at Updike Farmstead overlooks the fields and was lovely on this early fall day. Pilar and Luca’s ceremony was co-officiated by their brothers who did the ceremony in alternating Italian and English.
Hurray! They did it!
Ready to party at the reception inside the barn at Updike Farms. Pilar and Luca put on an excellent dance party and had fun tearing it up all night long!
