I’ve had a bunch of winter elopements this year which have been the most fun. More then ever I’m photographing elopements at Brooklyn City Hall which is always a fun change of pace from the City Clerk in Manhattan. This winter Brooklyn City Hall wedding was with the most fun couple who came in from Connecticut to elope in NYC. Krista and Effie met in Philly, are now in Connecticut for work, but loved the idea of getting married in Brooklyn. While many couples chose to elope in Manhattan, Brooklyn is also a great spot for elopements!
People often ask about the difference between getting married at the Brooklyn City Clerk’s office versus the Manhattan City Clerk. While the ceremony is the same, the space you’ll be in is quite different, however both are always fun. I did a comparison of Brooklyn vs Manhattan City Hall Elopements on my site, but basically, the Brooklyn office is much simpler and a bit more bare bones. As you can see though, we still will always get lots of cute photos!
Krista and Effie were the absolute cutest couple. I mean, really? These two couldn’t stop giggling and snuggling, it was the best time!
This is the ceremony room in Brooklyn, the decor is different then Manhattan Clerk’s Office, but you do get to stand on a little podium.
I will always cherish the genuine emotion you see on people’s faces are during the wedding ceremony. These two had so much joy!
And of course, they asked for silly photos outside after the ceremony! I had to oblige!
One of my favorite parts of Brooklyn elopements at the Brooklyn City Clerk is getting to wander Brooklyn Heights afterwards. Though it’s true, there’s lots of construction around the clerk’s office right now, if you stroll a few blocks you’re in amongst the gorgeous brownstones of Brooklyn Heights and it’s the perfect neighborhood for elopement photos.
We had an amazing time strolling the sidewalks, sitting on stoops, and laughing all around the beautiful brownstone blocks. Although this was a winter elopement in January, we were lucky enough to have some sunshine and it was warm, but still chilly enough for Effie to sport her beautiful fuzzy coat! I love the style these two brought to their winter elopement in Brooklyn!
