It’s been awhile since I’ve shared a family session on the blog, so I figured it was high time I get some NYC family photography up to share! While of course the majority of my work revolves around couples and weddings, I have been doing more and more family sessions as of late, and I really enjoy them! As a family photographer in NYC it’s really fun to show off this great city and see it through the eyes of the littlest residents. As a mom myself, I’m always happy to run around with kiddos and get lots of laughs for great family photos! Central park is one of the spots I always recommend for family photos in NYC. Since it’s a big green space, it’s safe for kids to run and play and we can still get lots of iconic NYC images and the skyline in the background as well.
This family was especially fun as I photographed Amber and Trent’s elopement back in 2019. They had a gorgeous fall elopement in Central Park. Fun fact, during this elopement, both Amber and I were about the same amount pregnant. Our youngest boys are the same age, being born right as Covid hit!
Amber and Trent were returning to NYC for a little anniversary trip and asked if I would be up for taking some family photos in Central Park in the same spots as their wedding photos nearly 4 years ago. Of course! I love getting the chance to reunite with clients and getting some great Central Park family photos in the process, especially with fall colors was the cherry on top!
We started with family photos on and around Gapstow Bridge in Central Park. I love this iconic bridge, and especially in the early morning, it’s a great spot for photos with some skyline in the background. The timing of this session was also perfect for getting those beautiful fall colors in the background. For the record, we did these photos in the first week of November, usually prime time for leaves.
Even if we’re doing family photos, I’m always going to try and get some shots of mom and dad!

Their littlest was the cutest and had the best facial expressions!
We ended things with some shots around Bethesda Terrace and Bethesda Fountain. It was such a pleasure capturing memories for this family! Would you be interested in getting family photos in NYC?
