As we got the first snowfall of the season I thought I needed to get a few more winter elopements up. I love a good snowy wedding and a winter elopement in Central Park can be so romantic if you’re ready for the cold. I wrote a post a little while back about how to get married in New York in the winter with lots of tips for couples interested in winter elopements in NYC, so be sure to check it out if you’re looking to brave the weather.
Speaking of romance, this couple eloped at sunrise in Central Park on Valentine’s Day last year in a top secret ceremony, so you can’t get much more romantic than that! I love sunrise weddings in the park, and the bonus of winter is that sunrise isn’t terribly early.
They opted for a ceremony at Hernshead Rock, an outcropping behind Ladies Pavilion. I love this spot. There’s a great view of the skyline over the lake, and you have to do a little bit of a scramble to get up here, so it’s kind of a fun adventure.
Sarah Ritchie performed their ceremony and there were lots of smiles and heartfelt vows to keep us warm. 🙂
After their ceremony, we explored the park, which we had almost entirely to ourselves thanks to the early hour. Sunrise bonus! There was so much snow last year, here’s hoping this year will also get lots as well.
After Central Park, we hopped in a taxi south to get a view more skyline views from Brooklyn including the classic shot on Washington Street in Dumbo. This bride also brought along some festive confetti to toss which is always great for photos.
Congratulations to the happy couple and here’s to more romantic winter elopements! Looking for more information on eloping in NYC? Check out my NYC Elopement Guide for everything you need to know on eloping in NYC!
