What an amazing day! While I love a good New York City wedding backdrop, I absolutely love when I get the chance to photograph weddings in the Hudson Valley, a Bear Mountain Inn wedding with photos on the summit? I’m especially on board! I’ve done a few weddings in the past at Bear Mountain, and I love the chance to shoot at this venue and the surrounding mountains. Maureen and Joe are two adventurous souls who love to hike and they knew they wanted to take some epic mountain top wedding photos. I could not have been more excited and loved swapping hiking stories with them.
Bear Mountain Inn was a great choice as we had lots of nearby scenery to work with, and bonus, the mountain views you see here are easily drivable, so no worries about managing a hike in a dress.
The lake behind the property is so pretty!
Their dog was a crucial part of their day, and I loved their cute cake-topper!
I started the day with Maureen getting ready. Maureen had her friends and two sisters help her prepare for the day.
My second shooter went over to see Joe at his cabin with his crew and I love the rustic vibe of this place.
We started with a first look with friends and then went out to the front of Bear Mountain Inn for the grand reveal with Joe.
Joe’s face is perfect! A good first look moment is the best and SO much fun to capture.
Then we hopped in a car and headed up to the mountain top. As I mentioned, Bear Mountain is great for wedding photos as we can easily drive up and get a killer view. My second shooter and I had a blast hanging out with these two and take so many photos. More mountain weddings please!
I will always, always love a long veil in the wind!
After we got our fill of mountain views, Maureen and Joe also wanted a bit of the riverfront along the Hudson. These two love bridges, and Maureen found a perfect spot right in front of the Inn.
Getting to this spot required walking through an old graffitied train tunnel and we couldn’t resist a more serious photo for a little drama.
One of the fun parts of a wedding at Bear Mountain is use of the historic carousel which always makes for some fun portraits. Afterwards we walked down to the lake for more wedding party photos.
The Inn has a great patio that they normally use for ceremonies, but unfortunately there was rain in the forecast, so Maureen and Joe were moved indoors. It was all good though as they still had a beautiful ceremony officiated by an old friend.
And then it was time to party!
Maureen and Joe and all their guests came to PLAY! These guys had an amazing packed dance floor and it was so much fun to be a part of!
Congrats you two!! Thank you so much for inviting me to be a part of your day!
