My final big wedding of the season was the perfect way to end the year! Jess and Adam are the most fun couple, as you may recall from their street art Astoria engagement session. For their Ravel Hotel wedding we also stayed in Queens.
I haven’t shot at the Ravel Hotel before, but I’ve walked by many times for events at the Foundry. This hotel is situated right by the river, so the views from the rooftop are awesome. I started off meeting with Jess and her crew getting ready while my second shooter, Laura, went off to meet Adam. After everyone was all spiffed up, we headed to the roof for a first look. I love first looks, and you can’t beat having the skyline for a backdrop. The winter light was beautiful and Jess and Adam looked amazing. After a round of rooftop images, we made a quick trip to Gantry Park for some more photos along the waterfront. I love how easily these two laugh together, it was such a pleasure to do portraits with them both.
There were so many fun details in this wedding; from their Ketubah, which had “I love you” spelled out in morse code, to nods to Harry Potter, to their library card escort cards. Their interfaith ceremony combined both their Jewish and Christian traditions. Afterwards Jane from Stylus DJ put on a great dance party! We ended the night with a sparkler send off a fantastic way to close out the evening.
Thank you Jess and Adam for inviting me to be a part of your day! I loved meeting you both and I wish you guys every happiness! Congratulations!
