This NYC sunrise elopement was something extra special! Jessica and Patrick came from Queens and met me as the sun came up over the river in Brooklyn. It was an absolutely beautiful morning. The sky started the softest shade of pink, the light was golden, it was magic. The real magic though? The joy these two brought. Their love and happiness was infectious and it such a pleasure to photograph.
After a photo tour of Brooklyn Bridge Park at sunrise, we hopped in a cab across the river to the City Clerk’s Office in Manhattan for their ceremony. When we arrived, the marriage bureau had just opened, and it was still very quiet. Jessica and Patrick ducked off to the side (they didn’t even tell me they were going to do this!) to share personal vows with each other. The City Hall ceremony is about 30 seconds and includes strictly no personal vows, so that they took the time to write something for each other was so special. As you can see from their faces, it was a touching moment, and I’m so glad they decided to do it. They exchanged vows with their parents present, and though their kitty couldn’t make the trip, they were there in freshly minted pet tattoos.
