I absolutely LOVE shooting proposals in New York. It’s part super secret spy, part wedding photographer all adding up to awesome. This proposal in particular was super special. You see, Amber is a photographer friend of mine who I especially adore as she’s one of the most genuine, caring, cool, all out stand-up gals I’ve ever met. She’s also head over heels in love with her fabulous now fiance Marley. Seriously, like the adorable kind of mushy love. 🙂 So when an email appeared in my in-box from Marley asking me to photograph their proposal I was over the top excited! I even shot a whole wedding with Amber the day before without mentioning a word about the surprise. (This was NO small feat!)
Cut to the proposal evening, Marley had arranged for a piano player to arrive at Washington Square Park, Amber’s favorite spot in New York. We tried for sunset, but things ran late, and with a proposal you especially have to be ready for all conditions as only one party is privy to the details. No matter, because things didn’t run according to schedule it was all the more a New York moment as who happened to be relaxing in the park behind the piano at the very moment Marley proposed? None other then Alec Baldwin. #onlyinnewyork.
