Travel Tuesday 12.10.13: Bangkok, Thailand
Traveled: First 2006, Recently March 2013, Solo
Bangkok, Thailand. I first came to Bangkok in 2006 on an around the world trip, and ventured there again this past spring on my solo jaunt to South East Asia. Thailand probably will always win as one of my most favorite countries in the world, so it’s fitting that its capital is also on my list of top global cities. Bangkok is the perfect mix of stunning temples, incredible color, modern public transit, and amazing cuisine. Oh yeah, and it’s wicked cheap for the backpacking traveler. Go. Now. Need I say more? I also have to say, for those looking to head out on a solo adventure, Thailand is an great place to start, especially as a female on your own.
Wat hopping is a thing that has to do be done in this town, as they each are so unique and unlike anything I’ve seen elsewhere. Though the Grand Palace is my favorite, Wat Arun, or Temple of the Dawn, is for sure in the top three. On the opposite bank of the river as most of the other main temples, it can be slightly less crowded and great fun to explore.
