A summer elopement at the New York Public Library is always one of my favorite places to be. While elopements happen either on the steps in front or underneath the front overhang rather then inside, it’s still an iconic spot. The soaring columns, white marble, and beautiful architecture make it the perfect spot for a morning summer elopement in NYC.

Key things to consider if you’re going to elope at the NYPL: time of day and day of the week. If you’re going to do your elopement here, you need to make sure it’s early morning before the library opens. If it’s a Sunday, they don’t open until 1pm, so you could go even a little later, but early morning is always best to avoid crowds at a spot like this. Also if you’re looking up information, be sure to know which branch of the NYPL you’re going to. This is the main Stephen Schwarzman Building at 42nd street. There are other NYPL brances all over the city.

Mariam and Stephanie came from Miami to get married in NYC and had a beautiful ceremony under the eaves of the NY Public Library. You can’t have a huge crowd here, but a few family and friends? It’s the perfect size for everyone to circle around while you say your vows if you’d like an audience.

While M & S could a beautiful morning, the other bonus of a public library elopement is that on the top of the steps it’s covered. So if there’s a light rain you’ll be protected from the elements!

I always love an adorable ring bearer!

Officially married! M & S had a sweet ceremony and exchanged their vows with friends and family cheering them on!

After the ceremony we made sure to take a few more photos, it was so much fun. The New York Public Library building is such a gorgeous backdrop and we also got a few on the surrounding streets as well for that true NYC feel.
