If you’re looking for general information on how to get married in NYC, you should check out my NYC Elopement photographer page or my pages on how to get married in NYC. For today I’m going to be talking about the most important things to consider when eloping in NYC in the summer time!

NYC is amazing in all seasons, and many couples love to get married in the summer. June can often be especially popular for elopements. One of the best things about getting married in the summer is everything is green and lush if you’re in one of the city’s great parks like Central Park or Brooklyn Bridge Park. However, if you’re getting married in the summer in New York City there are a few things you should keep in mind.

The Best Time of Day to Get Married in The Summer in NYC

One of the most important things to keep in mind when eloping in New York at any time of year is time of day. This is especially true in the summertime when the heat of midafternoon can be very uncomfortable. For the best time of day to get married in NYC in the summer, look into early mornings and evening as then the heat will be more bearable. Early morning also has the bonus of being quieter and less crowded then other times of day.

What Locations are Best for Summer Elopements in NYC?

Looking for places that might have a big of shade is always a good idea in the height of summer if you do want to get married in the afternoon. Some place that is covered like the Dene Shelter, Ladies Pavilion or Cop Cot in Central Park is always a great choice. If you want to do somewhere out of the open, consider early morning hours.

What Should You Wear to your Summer Elopement in NYC?

I’ve written before about what to wear for your NYC elopement and summer time is the perfect time to look into linens and airy fabrics. If you are someone who is wearing a traditional suit, looking for lighter weight materials or lighter colors is a great idea. Even for those in a traditional white dress, something less heavy is always ideal. This is the perfect time for that cute summer mini dress or even an airy linen pantsuit!

What to bring for your summer elopement in NYC

Don’t forget to bring along a water bottle and a handkerchief or small towel in case you get sweaty. We can always stop for ice cream or popsicles as well for a cute photo opp!
