Surprise wedding proposals in New York City are some of favorite moments to photograph! They are full of anxiety and emotion, I get to feel a secret spy, and everyone is always so excited! This winter engagement and surprise marriage proposal in Central Park was so much fun, and even though it was SO cold, Andrew and Jake were the cutest and we had the best time taking photos. I love how you can still see some snow on the ground and even see their breath in the photos, proof it was definitely chilly!

The secret ploy before the surprise proposal was that we were meeting for family photos, however, little did Jake know, that was NOT the plan. 🙂 I love how surprised he is, it was the cutest!

The spot they chose for their Central Park marriage proposal was Cat Rock. This is a a great spot to propose if you’re looking for a view of the skyline. While there is often a crowd, there’s plenty of space and you’ll definitely get people cheering you on!

After the surprise proposal, we headed up the mall and towards Bethesda Terrace for some fun winter Central Park engagement photos! It was close to sunset, so we got some excellent golden hour light for pictures!

The sun always comes through the trees here on the mall so nicely for sunset, and this day in particular was a beautiful evening for engagement photos despite the cold!

They were both so excited! Hurray for being engaged!

The arches of Bethesda Terrace are always great for engagement photos, and then we managed to get a few shots on the Upper East Side as well. Congrats guys!

If you’re hoping to get photos of your surprise proposal in Central Park, send me an email and we can work out all the details! I have a portfolio of sample NYC engagement photos on my site as well!
