One of my favorite parts of being an elopement photographer is when couples invite me back for other milestone moments in their lives. This NYC maternity photography session in Battery Park City was just that kind of moment. I photographed M & S’s elopement a few years back and now they are expecting a new little one any day now!
Photographing maternity sessions is something I love to do and it’s such a joy when couples ask for these kinds of photos. As a mom myself who grew up with a labor and delivery nurse for a mom, pregnancy has always been something I think is so special and getting to capture these fleeting moments for expectant parents is so special.
We started the session in their apartment and for maternity photography this is a great option if you’d like some bare belly photos. I also always love getting photos in the space you will soon welcome your new baby!
After their apartment, we headed out into the neighborhood to Robert F Wagner Park. This park in Battery Park City has been newly renovated and it’s a beautiful waterfront space; perfect for this Manhattan maternity photography session! There are benches, lots of flowers, lovely walking paths, cool architecture Hudson River views and glimpses of the downtown skyline. I would love to explore this space more with wedding couples too!

Battery Park isn’t a neighborhood I get to work in often, but it was so fun to explore for these maternity photos. View of the statue of liberty? Twinkle lights? Some sunset river views? It’s a great area and Robert F Wagner Park was a beautiful location.

When should you book a Maternity Photo Session in NYC?
You should reach out usually a couple months before you’d like to do the session. I tell expectant parents that I do maternity sessions usually between 32-35 weeks or so. Before your belly gets too uncomfortable, but far enough along that you are definitely showing.
Where should you do your NYC pregnancy photos?
Totally up to you! I love doing some photos in home, where you’re most comfortable, and then taking a walk around the neighborhood. But if there’s a place that’s special to you, we can definitely do it there!
Can we book Maternity Photos and Newborn photos at once?
