I’ve photographed several weddings at Bear Mountain Inn over the years. It’s a beautiful venue just north of NYC and makes for a beautiful backdrop for an outdoorsy wedding closer to the city. While I’ve done weddings at the main Bear Mountain Inn complex and photos at the Bear Mountain Inn Carousel with wedding parties, I haven’t had the chance to photography a ceremony and reception in the carousel building until Sam and Dan! Sam and Dan have known each other since high school and even grew up going to Bear Mountain, so they knew this spot was perfect for their wedding.
The Bear Mountain Inn carousel pavilion is a beautiful building and the carousel itself is so much fun and great for photos! I had a great time at Sam and Dan’s wedding and getting to do a first carousel ride together after your ceremony? How wonderful is that?!
Sam and Dan both got ready at the cabins up the road from the main Inn so I met up with them there for some getting ready photos. First though, I had to steal Sam’s bouquet for some photos, isn’t it beautiful? Sam is SUPER creative and crafty and actually hand dyed all the gorgeous wooden flowers for the wedding herself! I was so impressed, they came out amazing.
After getting ready, it was time for a first look. We walked from the cabins over to the Inn and took photos along the way, so a spot along this path was the perfect place to start.
These two were the cutest for photos, and I had such a lovely time snapping shots of them both.
It had been threatening rain all morning, and although the sky was overcast, the rain held off and we got loads of great photos! I love the lake front around the Inn. Bear Mountain has lots of wonderful photo spots!
Time for the ceremony! I hadn’t done a ceremony in the Carousel building before this one, and it’s a great venue!
They had a close friend officiate their ceremony and their vow exchange was so sweet.

Aren’t these cake toppers the cutest? I love personal details like this at weddings. And a sword cake cutting? You can’t go wrong with that!
