As a Manhattan based wedding photographer the majority of my sessions take place of course in NYC. However, what you may or may not know is that I LOVE to travel and I am always up for exploring new places for photos with clients. I’ve done engagement sessions in loads of places, and while Philadelphia isn’t exactly that far afield coming from New York City, it’s fairly rare I get to photograph there, and I would love to change that. There are so many fun areas for photos, and this session with Emily and Kira was the perfect example of that, more Philadelphia engagement photos please!
Emily and Kira actually used to live in NYC, and Emily even proposed at Gantry Park in Queens. However, they had recently moved to Philadelphia and knew this was were they wanted their engagement session to happen. I hopped on Amtrak, met them at the station and we set out to explore the city for photos. We started at the Old City district. An area with tons of cool little streets and cobblestoned lanes. The weather this day wasn’t exactly in our favor as it kept sprinkling on a off, but Emily and Kira made the best of it, and actually ended up giving us a nice surprise later in the evening. 🙂
Crucial to their Philadelphia engagement photos? Their adorable pug, complete with rainbow sweater! How cute is he?! I am 100% for you bringing your pup to pictures!
I may or may not have seen this random rose bush and was like here! Flowers! Be cute! Success.
After some colonial streets we headed out onto the Ben Franklin Bridge! This ended up being a really cool spot for photos and gave us a great view of the downtown Philadelphia skyline at sunset. It was perfection!

It definitely started to rain right at sunset. Rather then be discouraged, we shot through it, and then turned out and low and behold… RAINBOW! For an engagement session with two brides to be? This could not have been more awesome. We were highly excited.
