This wedding was for sure one of my highlights of 2020! Katie and Molly were supposed to have a big wedding on Long Island this past October. However, as with most things this year, their plans were disrupted by Covid. They postponed the party until 2021, but decided to still make things official on their original date. Rather then stay close to home, they opted for a getaway elopement at their most favorite place, The Roxbury Motel in Roxbury, NY.
If you are not familiar with this amazing hotel, I highly recommend checking out their website. This place is like no other accommodation I’ve ever seen. The rooms are themed and designed like they’re part of a Broadway musical. They are whimsical and imaginative and just plain awesome. If you’re looking for a unique place to elope in the Catskills, or even just for a fun trip from NYC, look no further then the Roxbury Motel.
Katie and Molly had the Lost Horizon Cottage for their stay, which is meant to portray an old Hollywood/art deco apartment vibe. Molly got ready in the most sparkly bathroom I’ve ever seen and they had their first look on the winding staircase. After a first look, they helped each other with their finished details and then we headed out for their ceremony.
The Roxbury Motel has a couple spots they use for elopement ceremonies and Katie and Molly opted to get married right on the creek in front of Stratton Falls. It was a beautiful spot to exchange wedding vows. The ceremony concluded with Katie and Molly literally dancing in happiness.
After a bite of Pokemon cake (they met playing Pokemon Go) we explored the grounds of the Roxbury together for some gorgeous fall wedding portraits. I swear I could not stop smiling photographing these two amazing people as they were giggling together the whole time. You can’t see Katie and Molly together and not be filled with happiness. We finished with the short drive down to the motel where the mailbox awaited them to post their wedding license and make things official! Hurray! 🙂
