Winter Elopement in Central Park with Ice Skating || Mira & Jim

This was such a fun winter elopement in Central Park! Mira and Jim have been together for years, but decided this year was going to be the year they made things official. They had originally thought about a City Hall wedding, but knew they wanted photos in Central Park. Being that as it was, I asked if that had considered actually having their ceremony in Central Park. We went through the options and pros and cons and they ultimately decided a Central Park Elopement was for them!

They were married on warm winter day this past December by the fantastic Christopher Shelley of Illuminating Ceremonies. (Side Note: If you’re looking a ceremony full of humor and fun combined with an awesome public speaker who can work a crowd Chris is your guy.) Mira and Jim knew they wanted to get married around Gapstow Bridge, and when they arrived I suggested this little outcropping below the bridge itself. You have to walk around a few tree roots, but it gives you a little private space combined with a few of the skyline and the bridge. It’s a great little spot!

After tying the knot, we went on a brief wander for photos and then they requested to go ice skating! This is the second ice skating session I’ve done, the first in Central Park and it was so fun! Jim is a hockey player, and this was his request and Mira happily obliged. Ice Skating in Central Park is such an iconic thing and it was great to share the moment with these two and Mira’s sparkly bridal pant suit was also perfect for lacing up skates!

Huge Congratulations Mira and Jim! I wish you all the best in 2020!
