NYC Pride Wedding | Washington Square Park Elopement | Karin & Maria

This year was a super special year for NYC Pride! It was the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots and NYC was also the host of World Pride this year. All this means that Pride, the last Sunday in June, was an especially joyful day in lower Manhattan. Karin and Maria contacted me shortly before that weekend saying they wanted to get married at the parade. After discussing it, we decided the crowds at this years march would be a bit too much to handle for a ceremony, so we opted for them to get married under the Washington Square Arch. This turned out to be a great option and I love that I even got a bit of rainbow lens flare in the shot. How perfect is that for the ceremony of two brides?

After their joyful ceremony, we strolled the Washington Mews and then headed into the West Village to take part in the festivities around the Stonewall Inn and down Gay Street, catching rainbow flags as we went.

Huge congratulations to Karin and Maria! Best wishes to you both!
