When I first got an email from Kendra, asking if I’d be up for shooting their elopement portraits in Red Hook I couldn’t respond with enough exclamation points. YES!! I have been wanting to shoot portraits in this off the beaten track Brooklyn neighborhood for ages. (If any more of you are willing to make the trek, I would be super excited!) The fact that she found me on Offbeat Bride and that her and her partner sounded like such a great pair sealed the deal.

Kendra and Jesse were actually married in a City Hall ceremony a few weeks prior and then honeymooned in Mexico. We met up once they returned for some fun portraits to commemorate their special day in the neighborhood where they had one of their first dates. They met in grad school and love to salsa dance and weren’t shy about showing off their dance moves. They’re also both phd students in history, and one of the happiest photos was when I asked them for their “finished with your dissertation face”. 🙂 These two were seriously the best, and I’m so happy with the photos we captured.
