Cinara and Danilo came to NYC on a holiday from Brazil. Although they didn’t have an actual elopement ceremony, Cinara, asked if they could still take some elopement esque photos to commemorate their trip. Of course! Cinara is a photographer herself back in Brazil, she shoots newborns and the Brazilian national handball teams, how cool is that? It’s always great fun and a huge compliment to work with other photographers. When she told me the things they enjoyed: video games, comic books, rock n roll, shows like Jessica Jones and that they wanted to capture the feel of some of the tenement building streets like you’ve seen in the movies I knew right away a walk through the East Village would be a perfect fit! Cinara said they were game, so I scouted out a route including stops at an old school record shop, a comic book shop, a video game arcade and even the bar that’s featured in Jessica Jones. Check and mark.
I love the East Village for photos! There are SO many amazing murals, colorful storefronts, and funky little gardens galore. If you’d like somewhere off the beaten path full of character, this is your spot. The day of the shoot was a little rainy, but these guys were awesome and were willing to get a tiny bit wet and it worked out just fine.
Cinara and Danilo, thank you for being so kind and so much fun to photograph! Best wishes to you both!
