This lower east side elopement at Pier 35 was some of the most fun I had last year! I absolutely loved working with Alex and PJ for their New York elopement. Alex and PJ have been long distance between Canada and the US for a few years and last year they finally were able to tie the knot and make it official. I am so excited when I get the chance to work in new settings, and while I’ve photographed plenty in the Lower East Side, I had never been to Pier 35 before, and they showed me lots of fun little nooks and crannies of the neighborhood along the way. It was a blast!
We started the afternoon at Hotel Indigo for some getting ready and then were able to do a first look on the rooftop which had some stellar views! If you’re looking for a hotel in a great location with views, this is an awesome spot.
Top secret! Alex wore this cocktail dress with a long skirt over it for most of the day and didn’t reveal that is was actually a dress until after the ceremony. It was a total surprise for PJ!
I love a good first look moment!
Could these two be any happier?! Seriously photographing them was a dream. And that backdrop? Not too shabby either.
While the Brooklyn Bridge gets all the glory, Alex specifically requested photos on the Williamsburg Bridge with the bright pink bars. I aim to please, and it was super fun to stroll the bridge with these two.
Alex and PJ had a number of spots picked out in the neighborhood for photos. While on the way to their spots, we passed this huge mural and I was like, STOP. We are taking pictures here too. It was so bright and colorful, and I couldn’t help myself. They were excellent sports as we figured out how to A. get close to it, and B. Make it work for photos. Success!
The fun part of the Lower East Side is there will always be fun street art along the way.
A New York elopement isn’t complete without a subway stop.
Onto Pier 35 for their ceremony! What a cool little spot on the east river! I’d never been before, but I loved it! It’s wonderful when couples go off the beaten path and pick somewhere unique for their ceremony. There’s not a huge amount of space, but it worked out great for them and there were lots of areas, and swings! for photos complete with a backdrop of the Manhattan Bridge for them to exchange their vows.
Isn’t it a cool backdrop for a New York City Elopement? Love it. Judie Guild performed the ceremony and it was lovely as always.
PJ’s face as he saw the dress reveal!
Thank you so much PJ and Alex for the most fabulous day! Congratulations to you both!!
