I am always on the lookout for new, unique locations for elopements in NYC. I’ve photographed weddings and elopements all over the city, somehow though, I’d never been to this particular spot. When couples ask for locations quiet locations outside of Central Park, I often point to a handful of community gardens in the East Village and Alphabet City. When Heather and Erinn told me they’d picked this church garden for their west village elopement, I was absolutely delighted! An excuse to visit this tiny slice of urban serenity and a new unique elopement location in New York to discover! Excellent.
This tiny garden is tucked away next to a church, and the grounds are open to the public and it made for such an idyllic little spot for these two beautiful brides to exchange vows. It’s a quiet retreat amongst the busy city streets in one of my most favorite neighborhoods for photos. I couldn’t have been more pleased. Erinn and Heather were married by the always lovely Hope Mirlis of A More Perfect Union just before sunset.
After their ceremony, we headed out into the garden for portraits, wandered through the West Village, and then went out to the Christopher Street pier for the sunset and a few shots with the downtown skyline. It was the perfect summer night and these two brides could not have been more lovely. It was such a wonderful evening!
Huge congratulations to Heather and Erinn! Thank you so much for inviting me to photograph your wedding! Best wishes to you both!
