I realized recently I never blogged the full story of Vanessa and Teddy’s amazing Christopher Street Pier elopement, and as I’ve been referring to it quite a bit as a fun location for ceremonies I knew I had to get this full post live! Vanessa and Teddy had one of my favorite elopements of last year, this day was just perfection. I love when couples are willing to try a new spot and are open to simply capturing the city.
Vanessa and Teddy told me they wanted to capture some views of the city, but were open to something a bit more untraditional. I had been wanting to get back to the piers along the Hudson River for some time, and as their celebration dinner was close to the Highline, I figured something along the river might just be the perfect spot! It worked wonderfully. Even though the skies were threatening rain, it cleared the crowds and we had the best evening.
I started the evening by meeting up with them at their hotel, The Ganesvoort, for some getting ready shots. I don’t always get to do these with elopements, but I love having the chance to hang out and get to know couples a bit before we head off to the ceremony. As a side note, how awesome does Vanessa look in her wedding pants and crop top?
After getting all dolled up, we headed off to the Christopher Street Pier to meet Hope for the ceremony. These two exchanged vows right along the water, with the downtown New York City skyline in the background. Once they made it official, we wandered up through the West Village, one of my favorite neighborhoods for photos. If you like classic brownstones and cobble stone streets, this is your spot. It’s right out of a movie set on some of these blocks. From there we finished up on the Highline and I sent them off to dinner.
Congratulations Teddy and Vanessa, and happy almost first anniversary!
