When I first received an email from Kate, she mentioned that her and Sue met motorbiking through the Himalayas. I don’t think I could have responded fast enough. Yes! Travel and adventure, you are my people! Can we be friends?! This wedding was one of those days that just made my heart burst. I witness a lot of joy in my line of work, but Kate and Sue might just take the cake. The amount of love and laughter that came from them and their guests was overflowing. If it’s not clear from the photos, these two women were pretty darn excited to get married! Kate’s face as she saw Sue for the first time getting off the elevator might be one of my favorite first look expressions to date.
Kate and Sue opted to get married on the public rooftop of the Empire Stores building which overlooks Brooklyn Bridge Park. I’ve never done a ceremony here before, but it’s a great spot as the view is excellent and you cleverly miss all the crowds wandering by on the waterfront. After their ceremony and a few photos around the park and Dumbo, we headed off to a surprise destination. Kate had arranged with a local shop, Union Garage, to take some motorcycle wedding photos. It was great! The guys at Union Garage were so wonderful, it was such a fun location for photos, and a perfect nod to how they met.
