Travel Tuesday for 12.2.14: Lisbon, Portugal
Traveled: Fall of 2002 and March 2014, Solo
A quick snapshot today of Lisbon, one of my favorite major cities in Europe, and one I think may be one of the most overlooked. Everyone goes to London, Paris, Rome, perhaps they make it to Barcelona. But not nearly as many make it out Portugal, and perhaps it’s best this way. Leaving the wonderful cobbled alleyways, window sills strung with laundry, corner bars filled with fado, just the way they’ve always been. Perfect.
As a sidenote, I came to Lisbon to run a half marathon, which was great fun and my first race abroad. I want to make something of a tradition of running a new race each year in a new country. If you know of any fun races in cool places, be sure to let me know!
