On New Adventures || Vermont Wedding Photographer || New England Wedding Photographer

From Minnesota, to New York City, to …. Vermont? That’s right kids. On to greener pastures, quite literally actually.  For those who know me in real life, you know my husband Alex is a PhD candidate who has been tirelessly working toward his degree for the better part of the last 6 years. (2 years as a master’s student, and now 4 years in PhD mode.) To say I’m beyond excited for him to be done is the understatement of the century.

His program was the reason we left beautiful Minneapolis for the craziness of NYC, and now for the last year of his program, he’s been matched at an internship with a teeny tiny university just outside Montpelier, Vermont.  Though I’m torn about  leaving our little slice of Brooklyn, I am really looking forward to a year of mountains, and green, and a little quiet.

And, most importantly for you, I’m really looking forward to no longer spending my days in a cubicle! The fabulous part of this internship is that it’s paid, has a key factor known as health insurance, and with the lower costs of living, I’ll be able to work on photo related endeavors full time! You see, I’ve been the chief breadwinner around here for the past long while, and as such, especially as of late, have been working ridiculous amounts of hours as a photographer and at a desk. While my desk job is for a great organization that does amazing things, the thing about desk jobs is, well, they’re not for me. I need to be doing and creating. Desk sitting in the quietest office on earth does not make for a happy soul for me.  I am beyond thrilled with the opportunities this new adventure will hold for De Nueva Photography.

So, what does this mean? New York City folks, do not despair! I will be back in the city regularly for weddings and elopements and fully plan to keep taking on commissions here and will NOT be charging travel fees for events in NYC. As we will just be in Vermont for a year, I very much want to keep working in the city. And, I will need SOME contact with city life after living most days in a town with one stoplight. 🙂

However, now, with the added time and new location, I’m looking to expand things as well. Vermont weddings! Maine Weddings! Montreal Weddings! (Yes, I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to shoot a wedding in Montreal!) I want to hear from you!

From August 2012-August 2013, I will be taking on wedding bookings in Vermont (especially around Montpelier and Burlington) , New Hampshire, Maine, and Northern Massachusetts for no additional travel fee! So, are you getting married in the forest, in the mountains, on a lake? Let me know and let’s make some awesome photos!

Cheers to new adventures!
