Travel Tuesday 10.7.14: Luján de Cuyo, Argentina
Traveled: January 2012, With Alex
Going on wine tasting adventures is one of my most favorite pastimes. It would not be far off to venture that going to every major wine region in the world is on my bucket list. Thus, for a birthday trip back in 2012, we were off to Mendoza to sample all the malbecs we could handle. However, upon arriving in Mendoza, we quickly realized it was not in fact the dream wine destination that had be lauded in our Lonely Planet guide. That, my friends, is a bit farther afield. Enter our first international rental car and Luján de Cuyo.
We visited three vineyards in this beautiful region, three images from the first are pictured below. While we had no appointments, I managed to sweet talk the armed guard (side note: armed guard for a vineyard? Yes, seriously.) in Spanish to let us in and conveniently onto the next guided tour that happened to be oddly in English. After the tour we managed to taste some of the very best wines I have ever had in my life while gazing at the beautiful mountain scenery. Success!
