Couple are always asking me my favorite places to take engagement photos in New York. There are so many great spots in NYC for engagement photos! If you’re local, I always tell people to pick spots that are special to you. Whether that’s at home, a favorite neighborhood, a first date location, or just somewhere where you have good memories. Picking an activity can also be fun as it gives you something to do, and if you’re feeling awkward, that always helps. (Though don’t worry, I’m very used to helping people get comfortable in front of the camera). If you’re asking for one of my favorite spots though? Combine all these things and my love for bright colors and what have you got? Coney Island Engagement Photos! I LOVE shooting at Coney, and as we get into the prime of summer time, it’s such a fun place to be! You’ve got carnival rides, games, the iconic Wonder Wheel, a fun boardwalk, the beach, what’s not to love? Kyle and Amanda are theme park ride designers for their jobs, so when they were visiting Brooklyn, they knew they wanted to hit up Coney Island for their engagement photos. We opted for sunset, as the light then is always beautiful. This wasn’t quite summer yet, but I think the first weekend in spring when Coney Island was open, so not too crowded yet, but the perfect way to kick off the season! Coney Island engagement photos at sunset are always a good idea, and these two absolutely rocked their session and we had an absolute blast!
If you ride the Wonder Wheel, keep in mind some of the cars are swinging, and some stay still. For engagement photos to get that natural laugh look? The swinging cars are for sure my favorite! 🙂
You can’t come to Coney Island for engagement photos and not play a few games! Amanda and Kyle made sure to compete for a few stuffed animals and got some fun souvenirs to take home.
I also love the swings! You get a fantastic view and they make for great photos!
Coney Island is all about the bright colors! I love all the walls filled with vibrant street art!
While I can’t ride spinny rides myself, I’ll always take loads of photos and these two were the cutest aboard the Tilt-a-Whirl!
We finished up the night with a stroll on the boardwalk! It was a gorgeous evening and I had so much fun strolling the rides and amusements with these two! If you’re looking to have fun at your engagement session, places like Coney Island are a great spot to start!
