What a beautiful summer day this was! I’ve photographed weddings all over the city, but this was my first time for a wedding at Van Cortlandt Park Lake House. For couples looking for perhaps a slightly more affordable wedding venue in NYC, a wedding at the Van Cortlandt Lake House may hit the spot. It had a more casual vibe, but was also super lovely overlooking the water in Van Cortlandt Park. You’re able to have a ceremony on the grounds and it made for a wonderful mostly outdoor venue in NYC.
Wasn’t Katie’s bouquet gorgeous?
I started the day with Katie and Alejandro in Fort Tryon Park in northern Manhattan. If you’re looking for a unique park space for wedding photos in NYC, this is a great spot! It has beautiful grounds and gardens and is almost always super quiet. The great part also for photos here with a wedding at Van Cortlandt Park is that it was just a quick cab ride away from the ceremony.
The flowered garden paths in Fort Tryon are always beautiful for photos! It was VERY hot on this August day, but Katie and Alejandro did a great job and we tried to stay in the shade as much as possible.
Seriously, these two were so much fun! The other bonus of Fort Tryon? This amazing bridge that has fantastic archways. I love taking photos under here, and bonus for summer is it’s a nice cool spot in the shade.
After Fort Tryon, we headed up to Van Cortlandt Lakehouse for the wedding ceremony and reception. The had a great gathering of friends and family and the weather worked out perfectly.
Their heartfelt vows were beautiful.
They did it! I love a good joy filled recessional!
Time to party! An evening filled with dance moves, hilarious toasts and lots of laughter is a win in my book. Combined with the kindest couple you could ask for and this was such a great day! Congrats Katie and Alejandro!
