It’s hard to pay attention to the news these days and not fall into a pit of despair. With 4th of July this past week I wasn’t exactly feeling in a celebratory mood about the state of America. If I have learned anything in my life though, it’s that you never stop fighting for things you believe in. And something I believe in quite firmly? Families belong together and no human being is illegal.
The news of the family separation policies at the border these past few weeks has been heart wrenching to me as a mother and as person in general. I hold my son close each night and think about those babies who don’t have their mamas and try to figure out what else I can do to help. Well, luckily I’m surrounded by an amazing community of photographers who have come together to try to do something. Photographers from across the country are offering Families Belong Together Sessions during the month of July to help benefit the ACLU and their work in fighting for families to be reunited and ending the internment of undocumented families at the border.
What does this mean for you? Well, have you been putting off getting photos of your family? Of you and your partner? Of a headshot for your blog or social media? Now is your chance to get it done and do something good to boot!
