Travel Tuesday | Travel 2015 Highlight Reel | Destination Wedding Photographer

Travel Tuesday: 2.2.16

2015 was one of my favorite travel years to date. I racked up thousands of miles and literally went around the world. Back when I worked at my desk job I would sit and stare out the window and daydream about jobs that would allow me to travel. How could I ever manage this insatiable wanderlust? Coming up on my fourth year of full time self employment, I couldn’t be happier with this space I’ve managed to carve out as a wedding and elopement photographer and part time traveler.

One of my long time goals has been to shoot more destination weddings and elopements and this year I managed to do that for the first time and it was awesome! My goal for 2016 is continue this trend, so any destination couples out there, let me know!

Enough chatter though, below you’ll find my round-up of all the destinations 2015 had in store. Wedding and Elopement highlights from 2015 are on their way soon!

January: We started the year in Zambia! We began in Livingstone to admire Victoria Falls and then headed up via bush plane to South Luangwa for our first African safari. This was an absolutely incredible experience and I can’t recommend the lodge we stayed in enough.  After Zambia we headed to the coast and Mozambique to relax on the beach in Tofo. While a storm off the coast prevented us from diving, we still enjoyed the view.

March: As the spring came around I headed south to do some diving in Roatan, Honduras with one of my best girlfriends.

April: Just after getting back from Honduras, Alex and I hopped on a plane south again to explore Cuba! We made our way through Havana and Trinidad and I went through a million memory cards taking all the photos and promptly fell in love with this incredible island. After returning from Cuba, I went west to attend the Canada Photo Convention in Vancouver. I’d never been to Vancouver before and it was such a treat. Beautiful mountains and cool city combined? I’ll take it.

July: Summer included my first trip to Scotland! Though it was grey and chilly, I really enjoyed my time here, and also got a chance to hit up London and visit friends in Birmingham.

August: A domestic trip! My first time in New Hampshire and Maine. Both of which I’m hoping to visit again in the very near future.

September: For the start of fall I went north to Montreal for the Rock n Roll half marathon. I try to run a half once a year and I figure if I’m going to race why not make it somewhere interesting? Montreal is one of my favorite cities and this was a really great run despite the many hills at the end of the course.

November: My first destination elopement in St. Thomas followed by my first trip down under to Australia. A pretty good birthday month had by all! In Australia I managed to explore Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula. A re-cap of the photos from this trip is coming up soon!

December: I closed out the year with a quick trip to Chicago, a road trip way up north in Minnesota for my little brother’s proposal and then we headed to Spain to finally see the Alhambra and rang in the New Year in Madrid.
