If you’ve been around here awhile, you know that every year I make the time to use my business to give back to communities in need. This year marks 5 years that I’ve been able to do so, which is amazing. This is a hugely important thing for me and using my creative powers for good is something I always want to keep in place. Life isn’t just about making a paycheck, but about giving back and making the world a better place. I feel so fortunate to be in a place to be able to do so.
You can read about previous years causes here. Also, as an update, my elope for good promotion around the holidays raised $450 for the International Rescue Committee, providing services to refugees in need around the world!
For this year, I again chose 3 organizations that I believe in.
Local: There are SO many amazing non-profits in NYC, it’s incredibly hard to chose. I opted this year to go with Hot Bread Kitchen. I’ve given to them before, and I really like that their mission that incorporates so many things I feel passionately about, including immigrant issues, women’s empowerment and education and the local food movement. Heads up, they also have a new cookbook out with all kinds of amazing breads from around the world.
National: Planned Parenthood. Women’s health and reproductive rights are something I strongly support. With so many laws being enacted and health care clinics being targeted, organizations like Planned Parenthood are doing extra important work.
International: MSF/Doctors Without Borders. Providing health care in the areas around the world most in need. It doesn’t get more crucial then that.
