Laura and Shane came from Australia to elope in Central Park. While their day wasn’t the sunniest, they are proof that a little rain shouldn’t ruin your wedding day. I love how an umbrella can be the perfect prop and I love to play with the reflections you can only find on a rainy day.
Laura works in the book industry, so a stay in the Library Hotel was a perfect way to start the day. The fact that they were assigned the Fairy Tale room was the best romantic little detail. I loved their room, filled to the brim with all sorts of old fairy tale books. After Laura got ready, we headed out to Central Park to meet up with Shane and the rest of their friends. They were married on an outcrop just behind the Gapstow Bridge, a great spot that is usually pretty void of tourists. While the rain came down steadily during their vows, their spirits couldn’t be dampened. Judie officiated a wonderful ceremony and then they shared happy hugs all around.
We then wandered a bit through Central Park, having the place mostly to ourselves, another rainy day benefit. Afterwards we headed back to midtown for photos at the NY Public Library. I’ve mentioned before the library is a great spot for photos if the weather isn’t ideal and it worked out wonderfully for these two. Once we finished photos they headed back to the Library Hotel for cake and a champagne toast!
Congratulations Laura and Shane! Thanks so much for inviting me to a part of your day!
