Travel Tuesday for April 21st, 2015: Laugavegur Trail, Iceland Day 2; Hrafntinnusker to Álftavatn
Traveled: September 2014 with Lindsay
So if you follow me on Instagram you know April has been a VERY busy travel month. I’m currently in Vancouver for the Canada Photo Convention, but I didn’t want to let another week go by without some wanderlust.
I left off with the first day of our Laugavegur hike. Here is day two! The first day was rough heading way up into the mountains. The second day started out a bit on the rough side as well, having us climb up and down huge mountains of volcanic mud. It was sleeting and/or raining and/or blowing wind sideways. To say I was miserable would be an understatement. I just kept thinking, WHY? Why would anyone do this, for FUN?
And then. I dragged myself over the last peak. It was cloudy, but I started to glimpse the valley below. As Lindsay and I sat and enjoyed a bit of a snack and the wind howled around us, the clouds began to part. And then the sun came out. And behold. The most amazing green valley of pure magic I have ever seen in my life. As I sat there and stared, life made sense again. I took a deep breath and slowly made my way down into the valley. This was some spectacular scenery and I was going to take my time to soak up every ounce of it.
