A quick travel update: I’ll be on the road for a good portion of the next few weeks. Lots of fun destinations in the works, so it might take me a bit longer then usual to respond to messages. I’ll have an out of office update with details but just a heads up in advance. As always, feel free to follow along on instagram for all the updates!
Travel Tuesday for 3.24.15: Laugavegur Trek, Iceland: Day One, Landmannalaugar – Hrafntinnusker 12 km
Traveled: September 2014 with Lindsay
Guys. If you go to Iceland and you like to hike, do one thing. The Laugavegur Trek, a 4-5 walk through the Icelandic highlands. It is not for the feint of heart, but the scenery is like none I’ve ever seen before. I must admit, this first day especially was a struggle for me. I’ve never done a multi day trek before and was not accustomed to carrying a pack up a mountain and over great distances. But, the first day is the hardest by far. Once you’re up the mountain it gets easier.
The best part of this trail was watching the landscapes change each day. Each hike was dramatically different then the rest. This first day was all geothermal action. The multi colored rocks, steaming pools, and boiling vents kept our cameras well entertained. It was hard to believe this place actually exists and I wasn’t walking through some sort of crazy martian land.
