Travel Tuesday: 2014 Round-Up! | Destination Wedding Photographer

Travel Tuesday for 12.30.14: Year in Travel Round-Up

This year has been a fantastic one for travel! One of the many wonderful things about being self-employed is the ability to have a flexible schedule and put it to good use seeing the world. This year I was so fortunate to explore so many awesome destinations.  My original hope for this series is that it would not only be a chance to showcase my travel work but also act as a bit of inspiration for those hoping to travel near and far. There are so many amazing destinations out there to explore! If you ever want to talk travel and how it can be done affordably, shoot me an email and we can chat for days.

My hope for next year? Shooting a few more weddings and elopements in far flung locations. Are you planning a destination wedding or elopement? I would love to hear about it! New travel specials are set to roll out for 2015, contact me for details!

Without further ado, year in travel!

February: Colombia

My friend Lindsay and I spotted a cheap ticket, and off we went to Cartagena. We spent a little over a week frolicking through the beautiful colonial city, heading into the mountains on a motorbike in Minca, and then relaxing on the beach in the incredible Tayrona National Park.

March: Lisbon and Sintra, Portugal

In March I took myself to Portugal to run a half marathon in Lisbon, one of my favorite cities in Europe. From there I also day-tripped to Sintra, a beautiful town full of fairytale castles in the mountains. I had a fantastic time running my first international race and hope to make it something of a tradition. I also love solo travel and aim to get in a trip on my own every year if I can.

April: Italy

In the spring, Alex and I hopped one last time across the pond to explore Italy. We had about 10 days to wander through the jaw dropping scenery that is Lake Como, Cinque Terre and Tuscany.

May: Quebec City, Canada

For an anniversary weekend getaway in May, Alex and I road-tripped up to Quebec City. We’d spent time in Montreal previously, but head never trekked further north. We immediately loved this charming town and hope for sure to come back some day!

September: Iceland

In September, I joined a cadre of other adventurous women for a road-trip back-country highland trekking Icelandic adventure. Some of the most amazing landscapes I’ve ever laid eyes on. This country is a photographer’s dream.

October: Lake Placid

In October, I was fortunate enough to have a couple bring me up to Lake Placid for a wedding and I managed to tack on some extra time for mountain exploring. This area of the state so beautiful, especially in the fall.
