Travel Tuesday for 7.8.14: Kyoto, Japan

Traveled: September 2013 with Alex

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve done a Travel Tuesday post! My apologies, it’s been crazy town around these parts. I didn’t want another week to pass by without some fun travel photos for your summer enjoyment, so without further ado, I bring you Kyoto!

I STILL haven’t gotten through all my Japan photos from last September, (personal photos are always hard for me to get on the front burner), but here’s a quick glimpse of one of my favorite cities. Both Alex and I really enjoyed around time in Kyoto. Loads of temples, tiny lanes, and cool shops and cafes to soak up. Neither of us speak more then a hand full of Japanese combined, which made our dining experiences consist mainly of nodding, pointing, gestures and generally just a surprise of what we’d be eating each day, which made things all the more exciting. We rented bikes from our hostel and pedaled our way through town each day, a great way to explore the city!

Please note the name of the cafe in the above right photo. Cafe Rhinebeck. We stumbled upon this while cycling through some quaint little back lanes. I did a double take. Rhinebeck? Like the little town in the Hudson Valley, NY? The one and only. Apparently the chef trained at the culinary institute there, and then came back to Kyoto to open this pancake house. Without question, the best pancakes I have ever eaten in my life. If you’re in Kyoto, you must go!
