The double wedding! Jami, Nivada, Julie & Kim came up from down south to get legally married here in NYC, deciding things would be way more fun if they did it all together! I couldn’t agree more. I had SO much fun with these girls! The weather had been pretty gross and rainy all day, but Jami declared, “Brooklyn Bridge or Bust”, so we went for it. Lo and behold, the clouds parted and we got about a perfect two hours without a rain drop. Awesome.
We had a great time taking fun photos all around Brooklyn Bridge Park , but the real hilarity started during the ceremonies. Jami and Nivada were married first, their old friend Tiffany Henkel, of Metro Baptist Church officiating. These ladies have been together 20 years, making for a wonderful heartfelt ceremony. Then they switched, and Julie and Kim were up. In what could only be defined as a truly “only in NYC” moment, a group of cycling Dutchmen, wearing, I kid you not, American flag jumpsuits started walking onto the beach. First it was just one, then the whole group of them managed to get into the action. Julie and Kim burst out laughing, and it made for quite the moment. Because, seriously, when else has a double lesbian wedding under the Brooklyn Bridge been overtaken by a group cycling dutchmen in American flag jumpsuits? Amazing. The best part? One of the brides even spoke Dutch! The guys were good sports about taking a few photos, and the brides have some moments they certainly won’t soon forget. 🙂
Congratulations ladies, I couldn’t be happier for you! Best wishes to all of you and thanks a million for having me!
