When I first had coffee with Carol on a rainy day in September, I knew right away I wanted to work with her. She was incredibly genuine and knew the most important part of this whole deal was the marriage not the fancy wedding affair. Fast forward a few weeks to their elopement, and I was right. This day was wonderful in every way.
As I mentioned in their preview post, Carol and Bob are the real deal. These guys have known each other for 18 years, live together on a sail boat, and they couldn’t have been more radiant and in love on their wedding day if they tried. Couples like Carol and Bob are the reason I love shooting elopements. They were one of the warmest, happiest, most in love couples I’ve worked with and left me with a smile on my face for the rest of the afternoon.
I’m not sure I’ve had a more smiley bride then Carol. She’s either laughing or has an amazing grin on her face in about 99.7% of the photos I took. This girl was seriously glowing sunbeams the whole afternoon. 🙂

Their friends and family from Canada came down for the day and were loads of fun. 🙂
I’ve seen a lot of City Hall weddings at this point. But you guys, this one might just have been my favorite. Not only because we got the awesome officiant guy at City Hall (seriously, he’s amazing for each and every wedding of the million I’m sure he does each day) but because of Carol’s reaction to a little ring surprise. Bob warned me beforehand that there would be a special surprise with the rings, but didn’t tell me what. Well, Carol’s face says everything don’t you think?:-)
Carol had been wanting a special fancy wedding band, but Bob said it was too grand and that they couldn’t afford it. So they got simple bands instead. Little did she know, he had purchased it for her without her knowing as surprise on their day. 🙂
The officiant saw how excited she was and basically said, “You can go ahead and give him a kiss now if you like!” It was about the sweetest thing ever.
Yay! After the wedding, we all hopped in a limo and headed up to Central Park for a few more portraits!
We ended the afternoon with Bob and friends serenading everyone with a song written just for Carol. Bob and Carol, thank you SO much for having me! You day was just fantastic and I had a wonderful time getting to know you both! Best wishes and loads of congratulations!
